New Annexe is Up

The new annexe is now up - it makes a lot of difference to the available room and the dogs sleep in there at night. We've been doing domestic chores including cleaning out the en-suite that came with the site. Have only had time to check out a few Darwin spots but now we've got two weeks before I start work. See new photo's posted.

In the Wild North

Ti Tree Tonight

We've made it to Ti Tree and will stay the night here before heading to Tennant Creek tomorrow. Whilst the roads would usually be pretty good, there has been some heavy unseasonal rain which has made the sidings very sticky and opened up a few pot-holes - as well as water across the road in a number of places. Last night we stayed at Erldunda and some "dunda-heads" were letting off either fireworks or small explosives around the park - park management didn't seem interested in doing anything about it - but we did see the police there in the morning. The Mule is running strongly and the Cooper is great - the off road suspension is a bonus when going over pot-holes or water etc. We went straight through Alice Springs in the rain this morning - looked like a pretty nice place and bigger than we expected. We've used a bit more fuel than expected due to the strong northerly we've been driving into but hopefully that will back off tomorrow. Will put some new photo's on tonight.

Heading North Soon!

To Darwin for work and play

We've been waiting in Adelaide to an " Aussie Traveller" annexe which fits out existing pull-out awning. It came yesterday and we'd already made a second PVC storage tube -so the poles etc are already packed away. We leave for the long trip North to Darwin in two days time. Our intended stops alond the way will be - Pt Augusta, Coober Pedy, Erldunda, Ti Tree, Tennant Creek, Dunmarra, Pine Creek then Darwin. We're not doing much of a tourist trip -we'll do this later on when we are settled in Darwin. We could be there for up to six months as Bill has some work to do for the NT government. We should have heaps of photo's to post on this trip !

We've been spending time looking around Adelaide and watching old copies of "Time Team" at night.

Adelaide then Darwin

Kittens and Mushrooms

Tomorrow we head back to Adelaide for 2 weeks before we head off through the red centre to Darwin - a trip of around 3000 k's. We have been spending these last days on the south coast with Di's aunty, as well as collecting a bumper crop of field mushrooms from one of Di's old favourite spots. There have been some really high tides here to the extent that some sea water has come over the verge into the caravan park - but it's only a few inches deep on one of the side roads. We are looking forward to some warmer climes for a few months and whilst Di has been to Darwin before -Bill hasn't. We have also ordered an annexe for the van which should be delivered in Adelaide next week from Aussie Traveller -it's a light weight one that fits out pull out awning. See more photo's.
